Luggage Tips

The time for preparing suitcases is critical, especially for girls when we want to carry everything and we start to understand that anything will enter in that baggage: a classic situation.

Here are some ideas that you could find useful:

  • if you have a detailed itinerary and schedule, make a list with clothes that would match each day based on their convinience or the ones you are going to feel comfortable. With this list in your hand, you can separate it, check if they are ok and clean or very worn;  and most importantly, this helps not to carry more than you need. Do the same for sleepwear or formal clothes if you plan to dinner fashionaly.
  • for footwear, keep in mind the type of soil you are going to travel: shoes, trekking shoes, sandals, everything goes hand in hand with how easy or tougher the route could be. Keep everything in separate bags. If there is not time to clean them well, at least not get dirty together.
  • Underwear: keep in mind that socks (in particulary those made of cottom) are difficult to dry and not ready from one day to the other. It should be more of these than all the rest.
  • especially for girls: cleanning tissues will clean your face but could be recycled to clean shoes, luggage, or any dirt that may attack your things.
  • baby wipes: they serve also for adults. Always wear your wallet or purse when providing long plane trips or full day trips which are not returned to the hotel for a break.
  • jacket dresses: I recommend to double the jacket like a shirt and then wrap it in the same pants starting from the waistline to the hem. They wrinkle less so if you wear open and smashed in the bag.
  • additional items that never hurts: a small scissors, a tape tie combination if you need one or more luggage and have on hand a bag folding (generally they weigh nothing). They solve the trouble when the baggage says no more and they give a hand when we met unplanned purchases on the way (they are of course the best!)
  • kit: inevitable some medicine for temperature, also something for upset stomach, and antiallergic.
  • structure of the luggage: the new ones come with four wheels and are ideal because they slide in any direction. Also be sure that the inner lid of the bag count on complete closure to maximize space, if it comes with the bellows there, better yet. Always use a colored cloth tape that you can sew around handles to distinguish more easily in arrivals and put always a label with your name and address on it.
  • weigh it before and after: when you buy a new luggage, do not forget to ask about the weight and check if the shop has a luggage scale. A great bag should not weigh more than 4 or 5 kilos empty. When it is filled, weigh it before you leave your home, even with a personal scale and control the maximum weight allowed by your airline for not paying over.

And if finally, none of my tips sounds good, try to learn this super packaging technique. . . a genius with just one cabin bag. . .
